"The best places are often found in the Back Streets..."
A review of Back Street Bistro by S Moore - Monday 6th of March 2006
Meal out for 3 people on Saturday 4 March 2006. The first to arrive but walked into a warm and friendly welcome. The menu is well representative of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, and Specials of the day reassure that the food is cooked from fresh ingredients. I am on a low salt diet and none of my dishes felt that salt had been added to assist the lovely flavours. The place filled up quickly and the atmosphere was fantastic, a good mix of ages too. Not sure about their smoking policy but the air was clean and clear on the night I was there - well done! The meal worked out at £30 per head for 2 courses, bread and olives and a tasty bottle of Chilian sauvignon wine and sparkling water. We shared a pudding because the quantities were very generous. I thought it was great value for money. The final really nice touch was the bill being delivered in a wooden port box which contained 3 complementary roses and chocolates. When you enter or leave, look up at the ceiling - there is an innovative way of using your empty wine bottles!
