"Where's Gordon Ramsay When You Need Him?"
A review of La Margherita by Phil Miles - Thursday 9th of March 2006
We went along to La Margherita last night, for my wife's birthday, and found the restaurant to be quite the most disappointing experience we have had eating out for many, many years. As Cambridge residents we had heard good things, but these turned out to be mere hearsay as the standard of service and food were, quite frankly, abysmal. Attempting to keep a positive attitude as the paltry side orders arrived, dumped on the table, I was horrified by the tardiness of starters and the best was yet to come. If it wasn't bad enough that the wrong orders were delivered to our table, the staff were then keen to leave my pizza in front of me while my wifes was sent back for correction. I insisted that they take mine, which was eventually returned alongside my wife's hastily prepared and undercooked main dish. In the interim period of waiting for them to correct their error we sat un-waited, drinkless and increasingly furious. To add insult to injury, the size of the pizza was utterly unacceptable. To think you get more sizable and better prepared food from supermarkets shrink-wrapped is being kind to the amateurs at La Margherita. I strongly advise that great care is taken to avoid this place at all costs.
