A review of Tatties Café Restaurant by Andy B written on Saturday 12th of August 2006
I always remember the original Tatties in Cambridge as one of those great 1980s eateries - reflecting our 1982-onwards "F-Plan Diet" fixation with fibre. But Tatties made eating fibre fun - those jackets were inspired!
The new place is pleasantly old fashioned still - I love all the early 20th Century advertisements adorning the walls - just like at the old place, and it all felt pleasantly 1920s or 1930s. But my jacket potato was luke warm. The staff member who served me seemed faintly harrassed and in a hurry, and I felt rather "in the way" and uneasy.
Sorry, Tatties, I hope you can return to the glories of your 1980s years, because then you really had something. But I shan't be visiting again in the foreseeable future.
I haven't got money to throw away on food I don't enjoy. .
