"New level of customer service......"
A review of Chez Gerard by Chris - Tuesday 31st of October 2006
After venturing back to my home town one Friday night I was greeted with a very disappointing meal. The initial half an hour consisted of the reserved table being set in front of us and having to ask twice for someone to take our wine and food order. Not a good start. The food did redeem Chez Gerard for a bit, with the French onion soup and the Creme Brulee being particularly tasty. However, we had to wait for our side order of vegetables (£5) due to them being forgotten about somewhere along the process. We actually seemed to be one of the lucky ones as people around us were receiving the wrong food time after time, and with us being placed by the entrance we were privy to all the pasting complaints of the evening. In conclusion, the overall service was sub-standard and unacceptable for a restaurants who aims to cater for the top end of the market in Cambridge. I recommend if you are looking for a pleasant meal with good service levels, go next door to Edwin's and not Chez Gerard.
