I read your reply to Owen's post with interest and think I can clarify a couple of points regarding the cars: 
 
Managing Director - Personal Car, never had a company car 
Operations Director - Personal Car, never had a company car 
Photography Manager - Drove an X Type Jag purchased in 2005 (same cost as Mondeo) 
Finance Director - BMW 5 Series - Purchased in the summer of 2005 
Plant Manager - X Type Jag - purchased end of 2005 
Maybe the new FD had a Company Car which I don't know about but I suspect he took over the BMW 5 series that was already in the fleet. 
 
Owen is right, all the Directors where in the same boat as the staff, losing pay,expenses, and thousands of share equity. 
 
My understanding is that their was a buyer for the firm up until Weds when the receiver stepped in and closed the company due to debt. You cannot underestimate how hard the directors worked to avoid the closure! 
 
Having said that, I would like to see an enquiry!
