"Quirky but good"
A review of Lawyers Wine & Oyster Bar by Ian - Saturday 24th of February 2007
Lawyer's is a restaurant with an identity crisis, but you could do far worse in Cambridge. From the street, it's easy to miss. Once inside, you pass through a smoky bar area (yuck) to get to the dining room, which is a bit like a long-disused library, the walls lined with old encyclopedias and plastic plants, the tables topped with tall candles in wax-covered wine bottles. The bar plays a short list of classics from 1940s America. (I told you, identity crisis.) The menu is ... diverse. There are some pub standards, a good selection of tapas (!), and a list of modern, ambitious dishes that rotates monthly. The lamb shanks with mint-lime salsa atop chile-roasted root vegetables were quite good, though it was a bit blander than I would have liked. Most of the entrees are 10-15 pounds. There's also a really nice list of reasonably priced wines by the glass. Though it wasn't my favorite place *ever*, it's well worth a visit, and I would definitely come back again.
