The River Bar + Kitchen with its beautiful design, extensive range of delicious cocktails and mouth-watering food is an upmarket, modern and s****y venue.
Its location is perfect for a meal with a view, provided you have the money to spare.
A starter, main, pudding and cocktail for two can cost from £65 to £70, making it a venue that poor students will steer clear of.
However, there are drinks offers on throughout the week-Thursday night is buy one get one free cocktail night and with names like ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’ at £4.95 for 2, who can resist?
The food that they offer is a million miles away from your £3.99 beer and burger that must of us student bums go for-with a menu that includes roast lamb samosas as a starter, venison in a red wine gravy as a main and a unbelievably delicious chocolate torte with cointreu as a dessert. Plus, you can enjoy your dinner while watching the ducks on the river-what more could you ask for?
Finding the place is a little tricky as the entrance is hidden down a side street, and once you get past the fact that the first thing you see when you enter is the toilets, the River Bar + Kitchen is a gorgeous place to eat and drink in luxury.
They also cater for large parties, the perfect place for a work party?
The staff are very friendly and helpful, they managed to fit us in and ensure we had our food on time, even though they had a party of 60 downstairs. The waiter was honest with us about the possibility of having to wait, but did his utmost to ensure that we had our starters within 10 minutes of ordering. I was genuinely impressed with the service, the food and the venue as a whole.
The River Bar + Kitchen is definitely well worth a visit for a special occasion, guys take your girlfriends here for extra brownie points!
