So i would say they are pretty confident of the quality! i have a whole wardrobe of the stuff and its great gear. yes, some of it is fashion based, you obviously wouldn't go rock climbing in a stocking-knit jumper but the outdoor stuff they do really lasts and its as tough as old boots!as long as there is an a wickedly designed and easily affordable brand like fat face, i will never go short of something to wear.
and no, it looks nothing like new look stuff, which explains why i can't find a single thing i like in new look!!!!
