I think this forum needs a few addresses and phone numbers to help them with their grievances. These contacts will not be given freely by the Welcome Group. They do mention the FSA but Welcome Finance will not mention that this is just for their insurance products, nor will they tell you that they are a member of the Financial & Leasing association and are under the name of 'The Cattles Group'. This took a bit of digging around when I had issues with them.

As your experience grows with Welcome, you will realise they are not transparent with their procedures , or that they are so badly explained they can be misconstrued to mean something else, so when things turn for the worse, you're stuffed!

They will not answer your correspondence, so don't bother writing as they will say that it's either lost or that they have not received it, or if failing that they will dismiss your correspondence as irrelevant, no matter if its a letter from the CAB or your solicitors - I know, I've been there and worn the t-shirt!! To be honest, writing to them helps you document what lengths you have gone to to resolve your issue.

So here's some addresses and phone numbers :

Consumer Direct
Call an adviser for help or advice: 08454 04 05 06 and ask to register a formal complaint.

The above is a good address and they also have a webpage on the bbc website. What is needed here though is ALOT of complaints for it to have a mention on TV, so get complaining en-mass!

There's the CAB - your nearest one can be found in the yellow pages, or by clicking on www.yell.co.uk

The FSA will only deal with insurance products that you bought, or in the majority of cases, forced to buy with your car. So in cases where they refuse to pay out because you've fallen ill, these are the peeps to write/call to:

I know all this is long winded, but trust me when I say this: Don't be bullied, pushed or threatened. You have rights, you have a degree of protection that these people at welcome will not tell you about - They prey on the fact that you've chosen them as you have nowhere else to go for finance and they will let you know that! They will sail very close to the wind to what is legal and what isn't.
