Missing the point
The point is cut out the plastic
Do it at source
Use cardboard instead.

Plastic
If you burn it you get cyanide and carbon monoxide
If you treat it you get substandard products and it costs too much
Plastic is not worth doing, dont use it in the first place.
Plastic is still even now poorly labelled and comes out in a variety of flavours that are suppossedly recyclable

For something like milk which is consumed fairly quickly anyway you should be able to use old fashioned milk cartons like tetrapak, now out of fashion in favour of plastic.

Microwavable food could even be done in some variant of tetrapak if someone put their minds to it.

Instead we have a landfill tax driven local council with debts mounting and rates rising and a plan to blow twenty million plus on some new recycling scheme.
