Been in central America, exactly the same thing happened here, while everybody else around respect my security. While some might think it´s by unawareness that they do it, I personally believe that they simply don´t care! A company the size of Pizza Hut knows theses things for sure, they just feel my security and yours are not important enough to justify a change in their "system". Well, sorry for that, I am now avoiding eating there as well as I don´t want my safety relying on a company that have this way of seeing its customers !
