In March I was just getting over a long illness and decided that since my hair had been neglected for so long I would treat myself and go to a professional for the first time. I researched for ages and after reading the reviews here I called and got an appointment with Karen.

The whole experience was bliss from beginning to end. I started with a complementary consultation on a Tuesday where I felt listened to and had some excellent advice. We even spent a good ten minutes browsing the magazines talking about what I did and didn't like.

I also got to talk about the colour I wanted - I'm sort of tricky because I want light red but not orange. So again we had a long talk and ended up agreeing on a mixture or two colours. She took a bit of my hair to colour before my appointment on Friday so we could be sure it was right before it went on.

I'd booked the Friday appointment before the consultation and when it became clear that I would need more time she offered to come in early so I could get cut and coloured in one sitting.

The colour turned out perfectly and I loved the snacks and magazines while I waited for it to set. The hair cut was wonderful; she was very careful and checked with me regularly that it was going how I wanted. She even took the time to explain blow drying in detail since I'd never done it before! We went over products at the end and I will never go back to off the shelf products again.

I went back again last week and she remembered me, which was a surprise. They keep a record of my colour so no faffing, just straight in and out.

All the staff have been very friendly and so helpful. I would absolutely recommend Scruffs to anyone nervous of the hair dressers!
