"Great for beer poor for food"A review of The Pickerel by Anon - Friday 15th of June 2007Advertisements
Met my son there for birthday lunch last Tuesday and was very disappointed...........both with food price and distortion of what is claimed on the menu. I ordered a starter, chicken liver & heather honey pate at £4.29 - described as a smooth chicken liver pate laced with heather honey served with toasted bloomer bread and Bramley apple chutney. Sounds great............it arrived with 1 toasted slice of white 'plastic' style bread. When I asked for another, the chef himself brought out a basket with one slice of bread (not toasted). I commented on being surprised there was only one slice served with the portion of pate and thought it was extremely poor value for money. The same awful chutney was slopped into my son's Aberdeen Angus Burger (meaning he didn't get the mayo or tomato chutney advertised on the menu description). I found the chef's manner quite surly. Shame really............cos the beer and atmosphere is great. |
