A review of Catfish by No-nonsense written on Thursday 11th of October 2007

To all the bitter people who deem it necessary to slate Dogfish on the grounds of their pricing strategy, music policy and customer service:

First off any product, be it food, toiletries, condoms (which I doubt you even need to buy) or actually any consumer product, has a huge mark up. Fact! The manufacturers, the distributors, the retailers etc..everyone wants their cut. Why? Because its business. Getting your head round the reality of it will make your transition from pip-squeak to adult that much easier.

More importantly though: How can you justify slating the retailers that sell the clothes with a price mark-up... but not the brand names themselves. That’s just double standards!

If you are the sort of person who likes wearing brands (and I presume you must be to even go into a shop like Dogfish) then you are buying into the ethos of 'premium and exclusive'. Since when did anything 'premium and exclusive' come at a bargain price? (Apart from at TK Whack of course, but even brands like D&G are struggling with the effects of that shop on their brand equity) Tell me, do you think you would feel the same walking out of D&G on Bond St wearing a new jacket as you would walking out of TK Max? Didn’t think so!

So you don’t like the music policy? Too loud, too rude, and too cool for you? Guess its all down to preference really; personally I think the music they listen to is spot on. But if you are more of a Shayne Ward kind of guy, there is always the ASDA men’s dept- I’m sure they could sort you out with some new threads (literally). More to the point the music Dogfish play fits the image of the shop; there are no cowboy boots, and so no country music playing; there are no studded leather jackets, and so no Metallica playing. Do you see where I'm going with this??

As for the staff that supposedly provide bad customer service...well they are just people, like you and me. Making personal unprovoked comments about them and slating them on this site...because of your own inadequacies is not cool. No one who has made negative comments about the customer service has actually given any examples of bad customer service....just interpretations of social situations from a bitter standpoint.

I know the Dogfish lads to be a friendly, helpful and genuine bunch of people. So why do you think some people exchange a smile with them when they walk through the door, but you get the once-over? Is it because they are wearing the latest Maharishi hoodie, and you’re wearing Topshop? Is it because they are wearing original limited edition Nike Air Max 1’s, and you’re wearing Clark’s deck shoes? Nope…it’s because they’ve got a smile on their face and you’ve got your issues written all over yours.

Nuff Said!
