"Unjustified complaints by freeloading customers"
A review of Halfords by Charlie Brown - Wednesday 26th of December 2007
I work for Halfords and leaving them shortly. I am amazed at the expectations of some customers. They complain about having to pay £5 to have a bulb fitted yet feel its the norm for garages to ask four to six times more. Does the light shine any better when a dealer has fitted it? Customers dont see or hear the abuse staff have to take, threatened daily by thugs and drug addicts, dealing with scam artists, con artists, p*ss artists. Dealing with people who`s lives are so shallow they take pleasure in treating staff like something they have found on their shoe. Sad troubled people who do need help BUT not from a retailer. Halfords do NOT treat their shop staff well or pay them well but generally the staff are a damn sight better than other retailers. The demands placed on store staff are excessive with the product and offers advertised. Struggling under a gazebo with a set of rusted wiper blades on a freezing winters day is no joke for £5.45 an hour with an articulated wagon at the goods in door with 115 bikes waiting to be unloaded by the same person. Halfords operate on a payroll shoestring with insufficient staff. Their new systems are rubbish and the staff somehow have to manage but complaints are always the store staffs fault. This is against a back drop of some customers knowing if they cry loud enough they`ll get something for nothing even if they are not being totally honest. Before you pick up your pens/phone/email to rip into someone just think how would you feel if it was a member of your family trying to eke out an existance against many hurdles placed before them.
