Stead & Simpson was a one time great retailer with a high standards of customer service, excellent training for staff at all levels, high presentation standards both demanded and carried through from top to bottom. All this was created from a strong management team AT THE TOP.
It is regretable that over recent years with numerous top level management changes who all thought they knew what they were doing but in truth did not have a clue - we now see the evidence of this coming through in recent anouncements in the financial pages.
Their problems have absolutely nothing to do with the so called changes in the High Street - their problems are directly related to changes in the Top Management - look whats happened to the likes of M & S !! they have experienced the same changes S & S have been exposed to.
Top management have come and gone - most of them have left with a lot more than they came to the Company with. The standards now witnessed on the High Street in many of their stores is shoddy, with poor or non existant standards of service and presentation, low moral amongst the sales teams, poor motivation which is all a reflection from the top. They say your sales team is only as good as the manager !! This holds up throughout their organisation.
Clear out the top and bring in bright, dynamic, focused management team who are PEOPLE orientated and see what the difference would be on the High Street in Stead & Simpson - a once great name in retailing - as good as M & S and now look at the Company !! Mr Stead & Mr Simpson must be turning in their graves.
