"Please remove Mahatma Gandhi's photo on the menu - humble request"
A review of The Gandhi India Cuisine Restaurant by Umashankar - Thursday 10th of January 2008
I would like to put a serious note to the owner and operators of the Gandhi Restaurant. The food, drinks and the people serving the restaurant are fine. However, as an Indian I have a major issue here. The restaurant is named after Gandhi which is a common name in India. But it has blatantly showcased the Father of Indian country 'Mahatma Gandhi' on the menu offering non-vegetarian dishes and liquor. Non-vegetarianism and sale/consumption of alcohol was totally against the philosophy Mahatma Gandhi during his struggle for India's Independence. Please refer to the website: http://www.mkgandhi.org/intro_autobio.htm for more details. I don't think a restaurant should use the photo of a respected leader of a country and the world to sell stuffs, which he was strictly against. In case the restaurant acknowledges my view and corrects it immediately, I would be glad to receive a mail at my id: umashankar21@hotmail.co.uk (Sorry, pls ignore the previous mail ID mentioned in my earlier comment) Thanks, Umashankar S., Student, Peterhouse, University of Cambridge
