A review of Footlights Restaurant & Bar by S.P. - Monday 21st of January 2008
We had a table for three plus my eighteen month-old (who is normally very good in restaurants) at lunchtime, Saturday 19th January. When we walked in I remarked "this place looks like somewhere that might appear on Ramsay's kitchen nightmares' soon". However, we stayed as it was pouring with rain and there was little other choice in the Grafton Centre. My sentiments proved prophetic. We waited more than an hour to be served three standard main courses. The Food was poor to mediocre. The chips were hard. The Lasagne was swimming in grease. I left most of mine and took my son outside (who was by now decidedly annoyed) and left the others to finish up. The waiter told us afterwards that perhaps we should have been told that there was only one chef on duty and the possible wait before we ordered. However, he did not apologise. Buy some sandwiches from M&S and eat them on a bench outside.
