"What a shame its come to this"
A review of Stead & Simpson by Angel - Wednesday 6th of February 2008
I also work for steads and have done for many years, what people need to remember is that it is not steads that have done this to you it is the directors that took things over around a year ago. Steads was actually a profitable company in 2006 under David Lockyer, the downfall of the company is down to the directors that came in and new nothing of the industry they were in and ran us into the ground, all in the space of a year they have single handedly wrecked a company of over 170 years standing. These are the same people who all handed in their resignations at the same time and abandoned us, this situation must have been brewing for a while and yet none of us were informed. Did you not wonder why we had all the experienced people from head office made to leave one by one ? It has been their plan all along as soon as they realised that they couldnt deliver their promises to run us aground. Whilst shoezone may not be everyones cup of tea they have saved a lot of stores from closing down and a lot of jobs, without them the whole company would have gone under. At the end of the day they have to do what is right for them on a business level and if they are represented in your town already then obviously they cannot compete against themselves they run an extremely profitable company and whilst I understand that is of no comfort to all those hundreds of people that have lost their jobs please direct your understandable anger at the right people because you can bet your life that they will walk straight into another executive position on a big fat salary with absolutely no qualms about what they have done to you or this company.
