"Customer Abuse"A review of Halfords by Keith - Tuesday 4th of March 2008Advertisements
I currently work at halfords, but leave in a little over a week due to finding a new job after the amount of abuse I have received from customers over my 3 years of service. I have had a customer spit in my face because it was 7:52pm and i couldn't build his bike within 8 minutes. I have been asked to "go outside" by numerous customers because there bikes (which they took boxed) are faulty (how is this my fault???) and i have asked them to return in an hour and they will have a new one ready built. One of my part-timer's got punched in the face on Christmas Eve by a customer, because we didn't have the bike he wanted for his daughter in stock. Which resulted in a Broken Nose. Another part-timer was threatened to have his teeth knocked in, because we couldn't build another bike on a saturday because we had already taken 10 on to build. I've had bike parts thrown across my desk at me by angry customers because they don't fit there bike. I've been threated numerous times with physical violence because I can't meet people's demands and the times they want there products delivered by. I've been intimidated by customers who have pushed me into corners, pinned me against walls and stood leaning over me. I have been working in retail full-time and part-time whilst attending university from the age of 16 (am now 23) and I have never suffered so much intimidation and verbal and physical abuse. Some customers are fantastic as they listen to what you say and the make an INFORMED decision, but some just come in thinking they can intimidate staff, threaten people with a good smack and they will get what they want. People that write letters of complaint make me sick, when I see my team members being threatened with physical violence and no-one! Not even Halfords head office department act in anyway to keep there employee's safe. And now you wonder why Halfords is understaffed. I'm sick of being berated by complaining customers telling me that i AM wrong and nothing will ever change that! I am proud to have worked with the people I have and they deserve a medal for all the CRAP they take on a daily basis! Treat people like you want to be treated yourself and maybe you might get some decent customer service. You can say that I'm being agressive, but I'm just saying what everyone else I work with wants to say! |
