Why if you bought a new bike from somewhere other than halfords would you pay for new parts fitted to your bike. why didnt you take it to the original place of purchase and get them to sort it under warranty. also what common brand is it? if its a cheap bike eg catalogue bikes it could be one big problem. THE BIKE!
Halfords is not a rip off its cheaper than other leading bike shops for servicing and repairs, also other branches have different levels of mechaincs instore so try another store if there is another locally.
