"Stock count incorrect..."
A review of B & Q by Mark - Wednesday 19th of March 2008
Just a note on stock. As a B+Q employee we are often confronted about our stock levels. (e.g. our computer screen tells us we have stock but the shelf is bare) So lets explain. Our stock management system is quite accurate due to something called aisle accountability, this means each aisle in the store is managed by one or more employees. they look after that ailse from labelling, appearance and product availability, ordering stock when necessary. NOW; the problem we have is something called shrinkage, this basically means that the actual stock level differs from that on the PC. this is normally due to customers requiring a replacement part or missing item, so for good customer service we take it off the shelf or out of a box of several items which can no longer be sold as a whole. When this is done the item should be recorded in one of a number of ways so that the stock can be updated correctly. However, this does not always happen because as soon as we having finished with that customer there is another waiting to be served. OH and one last thing it would help if those of you out there stop stealing the stock so that the honest customers can get what they need. YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD AND YOU WILL BE CAUGHT.
