" What dose that voice say? Tevion Remote test help ,"

A review of Aldi by Kevin Walsh - Friday 4th of April 2008

I purchased a Tevion 32” Windscreen TV from my local Aldi store in the Midlands on
13/5/07. Covered by the Aldi warranty.
The remote controlled failed last month and what a nightmare.

I also telephoned the help line and was kept hanging on. And on, And on.
Glad it’s not just me.
At the beginning of their message a voice advises you to go on an intelligible Internet address, what dose that voice say? Is it meant to be like that?
I phoned a number of times and ask other people to try and make out the voice instruction to the web site, Out of the five people I asked none of them could. Why is it not repeated and why so quick and intelligible.
Don’t they want you go get in touch?

I even tried to record this voice message from the phone on to a PC recorder and play it back at slow speed but still no joy.

Thanks to this site I got the web address, the website to take your complaints to is www.fascin8.co.uk.

Our TV is wall mounted and is quite high on the wall, the only place it could be installed in my small room, with out a remote control it’s a stand on a chair job to reach the buttons on the TV, which are limited to volume and channel.

After days of trying I managed to speak to someone who insulted my intelligence and told me it was the batteries.
For your information I am a technical manager and quite capeable of accessing faults with electronic equipment.

If it helps anyone regards remote controls that have no LED indicator on them to show if the thing is transmitting you can test this with a digital or phone camera.
Just set it up as if you were going to take a photo, point the remote control transmitter in the end of the remote at the camera/phone lens and press and hold any key on the remote, if its working it will show as a flashing white light on the camera/phone screen.

In the end they promised to send a replacement out in the post, that’s been weeks past and I have chased them again today, I would take the TV back to Aldi but yet more agro to remove it and repackage it in the original box that I kept in the loft ( just in case) and drive it back to the store, to be told what? Contact the help line.
