"HRSFC- the best place on earth"
A review of Hills Road Sixth Form College by Bill Lad - Tuesday 8th of April 2008
After reading some of the comments posted on this page I have realized that there is certainly a mixed opinion to HR in terms of its academic rigor, social life and other related activities. Indeed HR certainly has a diversity of people- with a lot of different views about studying and life in general. The people come from a plethora of backgrounds- some from the downright aristocratic public schools and others from state schools that were overlooked by the government. Therefore, even before students start at Hills Road, they are all on a different footing. However, it should be added that although this may be the case, the pupils are all given the same opportunities to change- for the better- and there are those that take advantage of these. In addition, the social structure of Hills Road at a first look seems very homogenous, it is however reasonably well stratified. The stratification process is based mainly on studying skills, ambitions and level of involvement in activities. Although, I must confess, that during my time at Hills Road, I made only a select handful of 'true friends'- this was in part due to a personal choice. In conclusion, Hills is definitely a diverse place. However, those with a moderate study ethic will thrive there. The community is certainly diverse and one will eventually find a niche to fit into- however it may take a bit of effort on ones part.
