"PIZZA HUT LEFT US COLD"
A review of Pizza Hut by Gary Spring - Saturday 19th 2008f April 2008
On 16 April we were once again let down at the Westover Road, Bournemouth branch of Pizza Hut. We were greeted at the door by a woman who said that they had been very busy ('hammered' was her word)and that we would have to wait 15 minutes for a table because they hadn't been cleared. At this time, the restaurant was half empty and, as on a previous occasion, we were invited to stand by a draughty doorway until someone deemed that a table was ready for us. We decided to go for a walk instead and came upon Bella Pasta where the service and ambience were superior. It is a bit more expensive, though Pizza Hut is hardly cheap. I have since been told that both these chains are run by the same company so I can only assume that their policy is to keep Pizza Hut downmarket for the chavs who don't mind being treated like cattle and are happy to have their eardrums blasted by loud music whilst those with more money/taste - are steered towards the upper end of the market. Life isn't that simple, of course. I like the pizzas at Pizza Hut because they are tasty and not devoid of salt like everything else is these days (and in fact the meatballs at Bella Pasta were pretty tasteless and resembled something from a 99p tin.)Nevertheless, we were treated like valued customers at Bella Pasta and I would go there again.
