"Mr T Rolley is still off his trolley"A review of Aldi by Tom Zywina - Tuesday 12th of August 2008Advertisements
Mr Trolley - We shop at Aldi and hate having to use a trolley when we pop in for just one or two items. I responded to your original blog because we would like to shop more at Aldi and would do so if it had shopping baskets, and also because your blog was factually incorrect. I am similarly disturbed by the incorrect facts in your recent response:- Your claim that Aldi have bought our baskets is incorrect: Aldi have never bought or received baskets from Diverserank. Your claim that Diverserank don't care is incorrect: Julia, a director of Diverserank, saw rolling baskets in use at Mercadona in Spain last year and, as a regular and keen supermarket shopper. She decided that they would be ideal for use in the UK. She initialy apporached Mercadona and then the manufacturer primarily because she thought - as a supermarket shopper - that they are a terrific improvement on traditional wire baskets which for example catch on your clothing. Sure - we would like to make money from selling baskets, but this is our least profitable product - the initial reason for arranging their import is that we have a dream of improving the shopping experience for ourselves and other shoppers. Your claim that Aldi have more than the 6500 stores is misleading and out of date: a UK Aldi website suggests that there are more than 7000 stores wordwide, and mirror.co.uk in a story on 1st July 2008 stated that Aldi have more than 7500. You also said that "I'm not sure the site is designed for you to advertise on." Why on earth would I want to advertise any product on a site that seems to contain blogs from customers complaining about Aldi? I was complaining about Aldi. Also -as they only have 310 stores in the UK - I would prefer to focus my efforts on larger store chains with a better attitude to their customers. Trust me - most supermarkets that we talk to seem to care more about their customers' shopping experience. Can I ask if your views represent the Aldi store that you work in, or Aldi UK as a whole? Am I correct in stating that you are an Aldi employee masquerading under the pseudonymn of "Mr T Rolley" making disparaging and possibly slanderous comments on behalf of Aldi about the products and services of Diverserank? |
