We took a party of 12 (including 3 American first-time visitors) to the Eagle one Sunday lunchtime and had recommended it as being an authentic old Cambridge pub and well worth a visit! The embarrassment started when we saw the menu, which had not much more than Sunday roast on it. As we were hungry, we thought we would just order some portions of chips. One of us also ordered a cheese ploughmans. Only one portion of chips turned up (instead of 8!) and the cheese ploughmans had no cheese on it! Once the order had finally been delivered to our table, we couldn't wait to eat up and get out - we're still smarting from the embarrassment in front of our guests! |
