"Ambivalent!"A review of La Mimosa by Jon Rambo - Wednesday 10th of September 2008Advertisements
Having read the other reviews on this site, I had high expectations. Not all of them were met. My views on La Mimosa: -pleasant service. -great location and views, especially in the patio garden. -nice decor and roomy. -limited menu (not necessarily a bad thing), nothing particularly exciting and no pizzas. -I ate the swordfish. Dry (served suspiciously quickly, but then again the restaurant was quiet at that time), served with reasonable side portions of not-particularly Italian looking veg. My friend's seafood pasta was unexciting with a number of un-openable shells. Sauce tasted like straight out of a packet. One could easily cook better at home. -the price was not justified by the quality of the cooking. -all the other customers were tourists. Hardly surprising in central Cambs but gives the place a somewhat "transient" atmosphere. In summary, a pretty location but merely workmanlike food and high-ish prices. One for the tourists. Go to London if you want better, cheaper Italian cooking... |
