"Consumer statutory rights"
A review of Aldi by Andrew Blakeley - Friday 28th of November 2008
The law is written to protect consumers and retailers alike. Without proof of purchase, receipt, bank or credit card statement or a credible witness from the store you have no legal right to a refund or repair or exchange. Dont blame retailers for protecting themselves from fraudulent abuse of their often generous refund policies. Keep your receipts for non food items and you will keep your legal rights intact, it's that simple. Trading standards will happily confirm this to those of you who feel you have a better grasp of the consumer goods act and enjoy using phrases like 'unfit for purpose' and 'statutory rights'. I know this as I have worked for them for nearly six years!
