"Over-priced, but good. (frequent customer)"

A review of Back Street Bistro by Bobby - Sunday 21st of February 2010

Finding a place to eat in Cambridge which is half decent is very difficult, especially for us students; I usually find myself limited to Pizza Express- a safe bet.

I have been to the Bistro four times, and have had 3 great meals- need I say more? I usually go there for special occasions; anniversary, Valentines ect. The food is of a good quality, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated- the toilets are of the highest standard, which usually says something of a restaurant's hygiene. All is well as regards the interior decoration.

However, the waitresses are uninformative and just useless at times, counting on their charm rather than the knowledge of their own menu- which isn't that extensive (a good thing, I think). But, this can be overlooked, as they do try their hardest to rectify this, usually asking another, or the chef.

Though the food is good, it is still a bistro, not a restaurant, and therefore should not charge restaurant prices; I usually leave with a bill of 50-60 pounds for just two people, and with £15 plus dishes on the menu, such a bill does not amaze me. Moreover, I travel from town, and so have to pay extra cash to get there. Ultimately, an expensive night! But, if around that area, I advise it; it is easily the best place to eat there (Better than Al Casbah, which is infuriatingly rubbish!)

What I do say is: Roll on Jamie's new restaurant! It shall be a hope for us all; of what I've heard and read, it plans to offer a delicious mean at reasonable prices. If Bistro is to keep customers such as myself, I strongly suggest they lower their prices!
