"Amex Travellers Cheques a NIGHTMARE"

I was working in the UK for three years and because of some issues with my employer, I decided to go back to India. I had one days work in Canada and also thought I'll spend a little time with by brother and his family in New Jersey. So I booked my tickets to Canada,New Jersey and back home. Closed my UK bank account, dint want to carry cash so converted them in Amex TCs and was all set to go, unfortunetely I lost my cheques, which I reported right away. Thay asked me a hundred question, demanded loads of documents which I provided. Luckly I had purchase receipt and serial numbers with me, after many calls and emails they said they will take 10 days to get back. I had the TCs in a blank envelope with nothing written on it, I had dropped it when entering the shared house, my land lady had picked it up and since nothing was written on it dint ask anyone. After 2 days when I actually bumped into her and told her my plight she quickly remembered the blank envelope and asked if that was what I was missing. Phew, what a relief I thought, but how mistaken I was. I called Amex and told them that I found my TCs, again they asked me 100 questions and asked me to send a hand written letter to a adress in Salt Lake City for them to unblock the cheques, its been over a week since I sent the letter and send them emails as well, I still havent heard anything from them. I have used Amex in the past and had no issues with them but after this me or any one in my family or friends will never bother with Amex anymore.
