A review of Cambridge Railway Station by Bret Sellars written on Thursday 1st of July 2010
Recently we have travelled into London from a large city (Peterborough) and because of its location - commutable to London - an adequate car park is available all day with spaces for those people who do not travel until later in the day.
However yesterday I decided to travel from Cambridge (I live near Bury St Edmunds), the returning trains do not connect from Cambridge to BSE until next morning, so I booked tickets from Cambridge and thought to drive to Cambridge and catch the train there. BIG MISTAKE!!!!
Once I finally got to the station, with 40 minutes to spare I discovered that the long stay car park is woefully inadequate and completely full at 12:00 noon.
The result was a missed train trying to find a near by long stay car park, so a drive to Stevenage and then purchasing tickets from there to London.
A total extra cost of £48 on top of the wasted £32 tickets from Cambridge!
My advice, drive elsewhere and connect to British Rail from their!!!.
