A review of La Tasca by Tom Gibb written on Tuesday 20th of July 2010
Went to La Tasca this weekend in a group of 6 (3 adults + 3 children). We waited an hour before we offered drinks and this was after searching out staff twice. The manager visited and instead of apologising to the table, tried to argue with us about how long we'd been there. To compensate he gave us some olives, bread and bizarrely a single glass of white wine (?).
The food order was wrong (not that the bill didn't reflect it.) All I can imagine is that the manager owns the place (and doesn't know anything about customer service - how else would he still be working there?) At least one of the 5 staff that dealt with us gave a good service.
The food was OK - not amazing - Another negative was that an Indian restaurant (next door on the side) had it's smoke extractor pointing at La Tasca - (which might not have air con) The smoke was coming in through a door that been left open presumably to help with cooling down La Tasca and this required customers to close the door not the inattentive staff.
The place was crammed full - if they had more (and better) staff they could have sold us more than one round of drinks.
