I was born in Cambridge and lived there with my parents in Kings Hedges Rd my father frequented the Golden Hind and was well known as a local character I used it when I was older then after I left the navy I and my family moved here to Australia.I came back for a holiday the first stop was the hind but I was so disgusted with the bad service and to see the place ruined by alterations also the over loud so called music and foul language Where have the nice peaceful corners where you could have a chat with your mates. Don't think I will navigate that direction again.
PS my name is Maurice Mayes Son of Alf Mayes We had a VE party in the gardens at the pub when the 2nd world war ended in Europe 1945 I think that even the gardens have been turned into a car park.
