"Is the service as good when an item is returned?"

I was given a £2,000+ necklace as a gift from Cellini, the beads of which are now badly discoloured. There were two options offered to me when I recently returned the necklace to the shop: either have the necklace restrung using more pearls and less beads or have the beads re-polished, which the member of staff explained would probably be prohibitively expensive (or I could simply leave the necklace as it is).

I cannot help feeling that I would have been treated differently (better) if I had a middle-class English accent. I will never buy from this shop again, nor would I recommend it (as I have in the past) to my friends.
