"How to waste a day at PC World"
A review of PC World by Austen White - Sunday 7th of September 2003
I went to PC World to purchase a speaker system for my PC. I was told that they had one on offer that had the 5.1 speakers, also included a sound card to go with it that was of a good quality. So I went along with what they had to say and purchased this special offer. After fitting the sound card the PC would not restart, so I removed the card and tried to start my PC with no luck. I went back to PC world and after waiting some considerable time one of there so called "Engineers" discussed my problem and said that the main board had failed and I would need a new one. I said that there was nothing wrong with it until the sound card was fitted. I was told that there was nothing that they could do and that I would have to take it up with the card manufacturer. So as I was stuck without my PC I was forced to purchase a main board and then told that I would need new memory as mine was not compatible with the new board total over £180. I took my purchase home and rebuild my PC and as expected with PC world's quality it did not work. Back to PC World again complete with my PC. After waiting for an age again to see an "engineer" I was told to leave it with them for a couple of hours to check it over. Some time later I went back to be told that the main board was faulty. I asked if they would fit the replacement as I was travelling 40 miles round trip each time. I was then told that I would have to leave it with them for 2 days and there would be a charge of £25 per hour as it was classed as an upgrade. I by this time had had enough, I refused this option requested my money back and left with my PC in bits. I then went to Staples who were very helpful and ended up purchasing a new PC with no problems ever since.
