"no good with long hair"
A review of Reeds by anonymous - Friday 26th of September 2003
I have long, thick hair which hadn't been cut in a while. I thought Reeds were in too much of a hurry to do a good job when I visited. My hair was cut by Jamie. Before the cut, when I told the hairdresser I wanted my hair cut into a smarter style, they were discouraging and said that long hair couldn't easily be cut into any particular style. I wasn't too impressed by that: I've had my hair cut at other hairdressers who don't seem to have a problem with the style I asked for. I asked for some layers to be cut into my hair, but so far as I can tell that didn't happen, having examined the cut more closely at home - even though when they finished the cut, they said they had put some layering in at the bottom. I had asked for layers starting at just past chin level. The end result is my hair is around 6 inches shorter - fine so far as it goes, but hardly worth the 36 pounds they charged. The blowdrying was a painful experience. They blowdried it straight with the aid of a paddle brush, which kept getting stuck in my hair. I didn't notice them applying any styling products, but when I left the salon I noticed my hair felt very sticky. I'm not convinced they washed the shampoo out properly, and I ended up washing my hair again myself when I got home. All in all, a waste of money. Toni & Guy's or Scruffs are a lot better, though the service at T&G can be a bit snooty.
