"WHAT POSSESSED ME?"
A review of Trattoria Pasta Fresca by angela - Monday 6th of October 2003
I ask myself this question everytime I pass Trattoria Pasta Fresca. After reading good reviews about this place, I decided to hold my mother's 79th birthday lunch there. There were 10 of us, 7 adults and 3 children. I had arranged for a birthday cake for her to be made by the restaurant. When we got there on the Sunday lunchtime, it was clear from the start that this was going to be a fiasco!. The chef seemed worse for wear from the night before, apparently, he had been out drinking till all hours, nothing was ready so we had to wait nearly 2 hours for our meal. The food was "strange" to say the least, so we had to have pizza to fill us up, which incidently was also bad. By 5 pm we were tired and fed up so we asked for the "cake". This turned out to be the strangest cake we had ever eaten. Some sort of hard pastry, dusted with lots of icing sugar which was flying all over the room. I had throughtout the "meal" been practising what to say before we paid the bill, but unfortunately my son's girlfriend sensing that there might be a scene and not wanting to upset my elderly mother, settled the bill before I could say anything. We decided to put it down to experience, and this year for her 80th birthday, we shall take her to a "real restaurant".
