"Rude staff at the Rainbow Cafe"
A review of Rainbow Vegetarian Bistro by Joanne Hill - Sunday 12th of October 2003
What a disappointment! My friends and I are all vegetarian, semi-veggie or vegan and we had booked a table at the Rainbow Cafe weeks in advance for someone's birthday. The birthday girl raises money for vegetarian and animal causes so we thought it would be a nice venue.
We had booked a table for 7pm and were on our way at 7.10pm when we received a call from the restaurant telling us that they would give our table away if we didn't get there in the next few minutes. We arrived at about 7.15pm to hear one member of staff slagging us off to other customers. I told him that I had heard that and we were now here but he just shouted at me for being late. We also overheard him saying that we shouldn't be given our table.
One of us had to ask for our drinks order to be taken as we had been waiting such a long time to be served. When we were finishing one member of staff shouted over 'look what time it is' and the bill was put on our table even though it wasn't near their closing time and they didn't need our table for other customers. 10% service charge was added to our bill which we refused to pay for obvious reasons.
I have never been treated so badly before in a restaurant and we will be taking our business elsewhere in future.
