"The Portland Arms"

A review of The Portland Arms by Jason - Tuesday 30th of November 1999

The Portland Arms is an unusual pub. Inside it looks like a cross between a haunted castle and Hilda Ogden on acid. But it has character, and most people there are pretty down to Earth.

It reminds me a bit of how the White Swan used to be before they refurbished it into a bar.

It also attracts many local musicians, especially those into folk and rock, and they usually have a band playing in the back. The pub is situated on Mitchams Corner, so is plus for locals, who can have an entertaining night out without having to go right into the city centre.

Another pub that sells Hoegaarden gets my recommendation.
