Who knows, but that indeed the offending skirt had justifiable cause to split; perhaps, let us say, to the topography of the figure which it adorned. Then again, think of the many activities,other than walking upstairs, that a lady might inflict on a skirt; for instance running away,slowly,from a gentleman intensely interested in the skirt's contents.

Really, you know,the mind fairly boggles.
