"Mamma Amalfi - the good, the bad and the ugly"
A review of Mamma Amalfi by James Ford - Tuesday 30th of November 1999
This restaurant is let down by its ugly setting in the Grafton Centre. Unfortunately the tacky polystyrene walls painted to look like nineteenth century Italian buildings look more like your average ghost train ride in a kids theme park. Not only that, but just as your senses are becoming tolerant to the immediate surroundings, you gaze out the front, only to be burdened with the sickening spectacle of spotty kids trying to stuff multiple Big Macs into their ugly faces. Somewhat lowers the tone and puts you off your food. Having said that, the pasta is good quality, the salads are fresh and they have some delicious deserts. But atmosphere is every bit as important as food quality...
