"Vegetarians Avoid The Golden Wok Take Away"
A review of Golden Wok Take Away by Jman - Tuesday 30th of November 1999
I decided to get a chinese takeaway for my birthday. Being vegetarian, I checked with the lad behind the counter whether their spring rolls were vegetarian. He said that they had some vegetarian ones if I wanted, so I asked for them. When I got home, I took a bite out of one of them, and to my disgust it had ham and prawns in it. And when I phoned up to complain, they treated the complaint as trivial which is quite insulting [if you've spent several years abstaining from something for whatever reason, and then you mistakenly have it due to someone else's incompetence, it's not trivial]. After some pissing around, they agreed to refund my money. The next day, I went down to the shop and explained what had happened to another staff member. The previous night's staff member was not there. He was most insistent that he should not refund my money, but instead give me some proper vegetarian spring roles. I really wasn't interested - I had been totally put off their food and just wanted my money back, and now the guy was being a real pain in the arse by not even agreeing to that. It was only when another customer came in that he quickly refunded my money, to save their image.
