"Robert Kilroy Silk -The power to speak your mind?"A review of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) by carol - Saturday 10th of January 2004Advertisements
I have for a long time thought that the BBC should have another "B" in its title. The "B" should, in my opinion, stand for BIASED! Kilroy is an honest, wordly, wellread and bright man of this generation. He hosts one of the only three BBC talk shows worth watching, the others being Parkinson and Jonathan Ross. I cannot imagine that the BBC really want to lose his ratings? We all know though, those of us who read and watch BBC news programmes, that the BBC is very biased. The coverage of the news regarding any kind of Palestinian/ Israeli conflict is so pro Palestinians that I often wonder who writes the copy and how clever they are to use the pictures in such a devious way. We live in a multi-racial world and we still, at the moment anyway, have the freedom of speech in this country .Why is it wrong for a journalist to give HIS views on a situation, he is not saying that his views are that of the BBC. I agree with all he said, as I know do many people I have spoken to about this, but the main issue is not what he wrote in the paper but the fact that the BBC feel that it is right to CAN his morning show. Do we, the british public, owe so much to the arab world that we cannot say what is right and true? Does the BBC recieve large money advances from the Arab world? On programmes like Question Time, Newsnight, Newsweek people are allowed to air their views without fear or favour of recrimination - why is it different if someone writes their views in a newspaper? I am sure you will recieve many letters in this vain,or I hope so, because if not the British public are not doing their job. If you, the BBC lose Kilroy to another channel I would imagine you would be very sorry - but this is not about ratings but about the power of a man who wants to speak his mind,or print it in this case. I am sure I will not get a reply from you but would be delighted to recieve one. Carol.Leeds. |
