"Nice cover-up, Beeb"A review of British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) by disappointed - Thursday 29th of January 2004Advertisements
On 28th January the BBC staged an event day on 'debt and spending'. It had been hyped up for a couple of weeks before being broadcast. But they knew that that day would be the day when Hutton delivered his report. Rather convenient then that fearing the huge swathe of criticism which would echo across TV and newspapers, and wishing to minimise its impact, the organisation downplayed it by drowning the coverage out with a 'debt and spending' theme for the day. Not only that but I think the whole Kelly investgation was a giant red herring anyway. The fact that he was found dead days after stating to the press that the government had lied about the reasons to go to war was and still is blatantly suspicious. Hutton's investigation didn't cast any doubt on the police's findings did it? Read more things that don't add up here: http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0307/S00165.htm And is it not a little strange that Blair appointed Hutton to conduct the investigation and then Hutton reported that Blair was totally blameless? Would it not have been fairer if someone else got to choose who should conduct the investigation? |
