A review of Campkins Camera Centre by Carol Beckham - Thursday 19th of February 2004

Hi, my name is CAROL BECKHAM (or CAZ as I'm known to many) and I live with my Husband Barry in Ely, Cambridgeshire
Photography became an interest to me about 30 years ago when Barry bought me a Fujica 605 SLR. (He was already a keen photographer at that time)
After owning an Olympus II, I was then bought a Canon EOS 500N with a 28 - 200 Tamron lens
I belonged to a local Camera Club and became the Syllabus Secretary for that club for 10 years (a post that nobody wants and they vote you back in year after year). I used to develop and print (with Hubby's help) Black and White prints and develop slides entering them in the club competitions, with some success.
I then went on to do Audio Visual shows around East Anglia (again with Husband Barry) and these too, were very successful and it gave a purpose for shooting slides.
I am a keen member of I.D.I.G. (Internet Digital Imaging Group) of which there are about 20 active members producing images and sending emails to each other on a daily basis.
I now own a Canon D60 of which my Husband says I mugged him for (not true) and using an SLR (Digital) is most satisfying as I now have the versatility to change lenses.
Most of the images you see on my web site are taken with either the Canon D60, Canon D30, the Coolpix 990 (of which I still own), or my earlier Coolpix 950.

My name is BARRY BECKHAM and I live in Ely, Cambridgeshire, which is in the South East of the UK. I have been interested in photography for most of my adult life.
I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop 2.5 some years ago now by Dave Chilvers a good friend of mine and digital imaging for me took off. Adobe Photoshop is the premier image editing software used by professionals everywhere and while not cheap it is very powerful and well worth the price and the learning curve necessary to get the best from it. I hope my tutorials available on line and on CD will assist you with this process. Now of course we have Photoshop Elements a much more affordable package from Adobe with all the important tools of Photoshop included.
I now work 100% digital using a Canon digital SLR and have not owned a film camera for about 5 years.
Although I am an amateur I write regularly for the UK Digital magazine Digital PhotoFX, which is now called Digital Photo. I have also had images published in Digital Photography, Digital Photographer and Digital Photo User. I lecture widely on the camera club circuit to both amateurs and professionals.
I can also tell you about Pictures2Exe which is an incredibly exciting programme to allow you to make your own slide shows using Royalty Free Music (available from my web site)
I have written a book called The Digital Photographers Guide to Photoshop Elements, which is now on sale at all good bookshops and of course at www.amazon.co.uk
Many of the images it contains are on this site and also on my Tutorial CD's
I hope you enjoy my images and there are plenty of Photoshop tutorials and articles on my Tutorial pages if you need a little help getting started. All of the tutorials have been featured in the UK magazines over the past few years and many are free for you to browse at your leisure. Alternatively for a modest fee you can purchase my Photoshop 7 tutorial CD's, which are mainly high quality videos. You can see a complete list of my tutorial CD's on my web site www.bbdigital.co.uk
