A review of Borders by Tim written on Monday 10th of March 2003
Borders is absolutely GIGANTIC. Easily the biggest book shop in Cambridge. Has a childrens play area too, where they read stories to the kids, and a Starbucks Cafe for those who like that culture.
I really do like Borders - very spacious and a great choice of titles. It's not the cheapest of book shops in Cambridge, but I would say it has the best choice.
A stone's throw away is Galloway and Porter, who sell greatly reduced price books. Sometimes you can find the title you are looking for or similar there at a bargain price. It's worth checking first.
But in my opinion, Borders has the most pleasurable book browsing experience of Cambridge's book shops.
The shop has a very relaxed atmosphere - tables and chairs scattered around the 2nd and 3rd floors creating a no-pressure environment. It's nice to be able to pick up a book, have a read for 20 minutes [in comfort] and then put it back.
