"Contacting your local TSB is still possible."
A review of Lloyds TSB Bank by Lorna - Tuesday 27th of April 2004
Like many others I was unimpressed by the new "method" of calling an 0845 number and discussing my banking details with an anonymous voice. I went to see the manager of my local branch and told him this was not acceptable, he told me to do the following.... Phone the 0845 number, ask to speak to someone in your local branch,if you have the name of a member of staff there it helps, you will need the sort code and account number, you do not have to tell the person at the call centre what it is about, just give the standard reply, "I wish to talk to John/Jane.. about my account", if they try to persuade you to tell them, stick to your guns, they are obliged to connect you with the person or branch you have requested, you do not have to discuss anything with them. I am furious with the TSB at the moment, they tell me the admin charge on my Gold Service Account is rising from £8 to £10 per month but....... I get free AA cover, free mobile phone insurance and holiday vouchers/discounts.... I do not want any of these "services" which will save me £274 per year I am told, oh yeah.. I have written to the TSBasking how this can be when I never use any of the so called benefits. i have 3 mechanics in my family, no mobile phone and we do not take holidays abroad or in the UK so how can I be saving £274 per year, it is actually costing me an extra £24 per year for these services which I neither want nor need. Do not be fooled by the glossy pages and the smooth wording, it is costing the customer money and is simply another marketing ploy to increase the profits of the TSB, there is no benefit to the customer whatsoever unless their car breaks down weekly, their mobile phone packs up or is lost/stolen often and they take numerous holidays paid for with the £274 saved by the customer in receipt of all the wonderful benefits the TSB are giving us.
