"Threat of Court Action"
A review of Bryco Windows by Morteeman - Tuesday 1st of June 2004
I ordered windows from Bryco in August 2002 and paid a £200 deposit. I was then informed that Bryco wanted the full payment up front even though I was told by the salesman that it was cash on completion. Not happy with this I told the company I would pay 50% up front and the other half on satisfactory completion but this was declined. I tried to pay by credit card, knowing full well I would be covered in the event of the company going into liquidation (how possible could that be!!) but I was told that credit cards were not accepted. I tried to get a refund of my £200 but I never had any correspondence answered by the company despite several recorded delivery letters. I instructed solicitors and surprise surprise they refused to acknowledge correspondence from them either. It was only with the imminent threat of court proceedings that payment was made by the company at the eleventh hour. I would not touch this company with a bargepole and if anyone recognises it in a resurrected form, whatever the new name might be, my advice would be to steer well clear. Mind you anyone using Mike Read to endorse their products needs to be a bit dodgy! If I have had this much trouble getting a legitimate refund of £200, imagine what would happen if you tried to claim against poor workmanship or under the guarantee.
