"Never again.....even in my WILDEST dream!"

Our windows are double glazed but they are very old, drafty, the seals have gone, there's condensation and they are not very practical.

On receiving a leaflet from Zenith windows which said that if we used them and allowed them to advertise our new windows we could get almost all of the cost back, we decided to ring and get a 'no obligation' quote.

We made the appointment on a week night for 7pm when my husband arrives home from work. The salesman arrived promptly and we explained that we just wanted a quick quotation to see if we could afford to get new windows at this point in time and that wanted to be finished by 8pm (so that we could make dinner and get baby ready for bed etc).

By 8pm the salesman hadn't measured up and had spent all of this time asking us what our 'wish list' was. Then he insisted that we sit and watch a dvd all about zenith windows (by zenith windows) on his dvd player.

By 9pm he still hadn't measured up and hadn't shown us any actual samples of their product until we would say that we liked the sound of their service and product. Finally by around 9.30pm we got to see the product but the salesman then wouldn't measure up until we said that we liked the demonstration window. We told him that we did like the window but still needed to know the cost.

Throughout the evening our small baby had been crying as she suffers from colic and we all the while were asking the salesman to hurry up (as we needed to give our baby our undivided attention). Trying to deal with a colic baby is so stressful as it is, without having a stranger in your house that just won't go and insists on giving you a ridiculously long and drawn out sales schpeal.

Finally by 10pm (baby still crying) he got around to measuring up and and 10.40 we were given the quote.....wait for it.........over £18,500!! However he could get this price down if he called his boss to find out what discounts he could give us. We were desperate for him to go and so agreed to him calling and low and behold (just like something out of the watchdog program) his boss agreed to giving us a wopping £10K discount making the cost of our windows just a massive £8.5K. However this price was only valid for tonight and would then revert back to the £18.5K figure as of tomorrow. It was at this point that he acknowledged our baby asking "is it a boy or girl?" "girl" I replied thinking that he must be as blind as a bat as she was dressed from head to toe in pink!

We told him that we couldn't afford this and wouldn't be going ahead, but he insisted on calling his boss again to try and reduce it further....we just let him carry on as he obviously couldn't hear what we were saying(!)

The price came down by another £1K and this time, whilst he was still on the phone, we told him that this was still out of reach. He then told his boss that "it was a waste of time" and hang up.

Instantly he packed his brief case, got up and with a face like thunder, falsely thanked us through gritted teeth and stormed out!!

We were left baffled, drained and hungry...yes we still had dinner to make and it was now coming up to 11pm! My husband had to be up just 6 hours later for work.

I would NEVER recommend Zenith windows to anyone. They just want your money!
